It is with incredible excitement that we announce a new chapter for Moxie. Geoff Mina, who co-founded the company (way back when it was Hectic in 2020) will be transitioning to a position on the Board of Directors. Moxie’s direction will now land in the extremely capable hands of Scarlett Riu who brings her experience of more than 20 years in tech where she held a variety of roles from development to customer success.
Geoff spoke about what Moxie has meant for him over the last 6 years:
“Building Moxie alongside such an amazing community has been something I'll always be proud of and is certainly a highlight of my career. Scarlett is bringing fresh eyes, real excitement, and a clear vision for making Moxie the class-leading platform our users deserve. The best is absolutely still to come.”
Geoff acknowledged that things have been on the slower side for the product over the last several months, but that this new leadership is a massive step towards accelerating product innovation again. Geoff will remain as an advisor and someone who can still fix anything.
From her side, Scarlett is excited about Moxie’s mission.
“Moxie has a clear mission, a product freelancers rely on, a community that cares, and a strong point of view. Freelancers deserve serious tools, fair pricing, and a platform built around the way they actually work.
My job now is to honor what has made Moxie special while bringing focus to what comes next.”
This change is effective immediately and for what it’s worth, I (Michelle, from the corner of many of Moxie’s videos) am already pumped about what Moxie is poised to do. Geoff’s strength and passion is in building and discovering. Scarlett’s will be in innovating and iterating. She listens well and asks great questions. Moxie users are in for another sweet season.
While Geoff will not disappear from all things Moxie completely, Scarlett will move forward with the day-to-day operations leading a growing team. I’ll leave you with her words on what is most exciting about Moxie going forward.
